Plan, coordinate and deliver social engagement, community building, personal development and academic support programs and events that promote and strengthen a positive respectful residential community. Monitor and assist with the management of resident welfare and academic issues, including identification and referral to other University Services as required. Supervise the residential environment and resident behaviour, employing effective intervention to ensure a safe, high quality resident experience and comply with Residential Codes and Rules and Tenancy Agreements.

**Your key responsibilities will include**:

- Designing, developing, and facilitating activities, events and campaigns on an annual basis as part of the DRS student experience framework, ensuring inclusivity, responsiveness, engagement with the broader university and external community and promotion of the DRS respect values
- Implementing and developing an annual residential volunteer leadership program which includes recruiting, selecting and training volunteers
- Planning and prioritising work and critical activities appropriately and recognising barriers to achieving outcomes, finding effective ways to deal with them and evaluating progress
- Striving for excellence and establishing short to mid-term operational plans to meet Deakin Residential Services’ strategic priorities
- Actively seeking feedback from colleagues and stakeholders on things that are working well and areas for improvement
- Seeking feedback from clients regarding their satisfaction and perspective with products or services received, responding to feedback with openness and transparency and seeking to identify ways to better service the customer
- Building new and productive relationships with a diverse range of potential students, stakeholders or key and influential individuals both inside and outside the University
- Striving for excellence and consulting regularly with clients to clarify who requires the information, the purpose for which it is required, criteria for success and where and when advice and recommendation is required
- Communicating with confidence using examples and the most appropriate influencing technique for a given situation to increase understanding and support
- Acting as a coach and working with team members to facilitate growth and development by giving balanced, constructive feedback considering individual capability and team performance, in alignment with Deakin’s code of conduct and core university strategies and policies that promote a safe, sustainable and productive working environment

**To be successful, you’ll have**:

- Qualifications and experience_
- A Degree with subsequent relevant experience; or
- Extensive experience and specialist knowledge or broad knowledge in technical or administrative fields
- An equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.(Education, Social Work, Psychology, Health or other relevant area)
- Ability to relate to and communicate with young adults from diverse backgrounds, providing direction in challenging and complex situations and a commitment to participate fully in enhancing the wellbeing of these young adults
- Proven experience in service delivery and program development with defined outcomes, preferably in a student accommodation or higher education environment
- Awareness of relevant University procedures and policies and demonstrated computer literacy skills to enable preparation of relevant documentation and reports.
- Proven experience in high level administration and reporting including working within and meeting administrative compliance expectations
- Demonstrated planning and time management skills.
- Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment, initiative, diplomacy, tact and discretion as well as proven experience handling sensitive and personal information in a confidential and appropriate manner
