The Associate Research Fellow position focuses on improving research studies of the PETS twin birth cohort by working with participant advisors. This involves creating a questionnaire and forming a group with participants to help design future research strategies for the cohort. The position also involves helping a Research Assistant develop a new screening tool for bowel cancer. This includes leading a pilot study, working with health professionals and community organizations to design the tool, and improving the user experience. The Associate Research Fellow will also provide guidance on maintaining connections with collaborators and finding new participants.

**Your key responsibilities will include**:

- To conduct research to establish, develop and delivery of a pilot study, providing advice on co-designing the concept of bowel cancer screening in collaboration with health professionals and community organisations, optimising the user experience.
- Assisting in research to develop a novel cell-based screening tool to reduce the impact of bowel cancer across the community.
- Assisting the research team with preparation, review and maintenance of study documentation, including but not limited to ethical and regulatory documentation; study protocols; training manuals; and any other relevant documentation.

- and inter-disciplinary research collaborations

**Key selection criteria for this role**:

- Master or PhD in a relevant discipline and/or other relevant qualifications and experience
- Emerging research and scholarship through publications as appropriate to the discipline
- Demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to produce clear and accurate communications that are appropriate for their intended audience
- Proven capability to work positively and effectively as part of a collaborative work team, to accommodate and work well with different working styles and to work independently where required
- Demonstrated ability to organise and plan, and to meet rigid and conflicting demands and deadlines, along with the ability to adapt to changed priorities
- Demonstrated sensitivity and respect for research project participants.
- Demonstrated skills in the coordination of data collection, database creation, data entry and analysis using Microsoft Office, statistical programs and REDCap

**Desirable experience for the role**
- Experience in qualitative research including reflexive thematic analysis
- Previous experience in participants recruitment for a study
- Previous experience as moderator to lead a discussion in a meeting or discussion in a group
- Demonstrated organisational skills including the demonstrated ability to maintain a high standard of data record keeping and an ability to meet competing deadlines.
