**About the role**:
St Vincent’s hospital is a world leader in Lung Transplantation and Thoracic Medicine and has a high volume interventional bronchoscopy program.
This position would suit a thoracic physician who has a passion for clinical excellence, teaching and research into airway disease.
The successful applicant will have considerable experience in General Thoracic Medicine with a major interest in airway disease. Expertise in the assessment and management of airway disease is required and skill in interventional bronchoscopy is a recommendation.
Clinical duties required include responsibility for admitted patients, with timely early morning ward rounds and post on-call rounds and working with a multidisciplinary team to facilitate early safe discharges. Participation in the general thoracic on-call roster that is evenly distributed amongst thoracic medicine staff specialists. Extensive involvement in Ambulatory services is a key component of the position, as well as other Clinical Services of the Department as determined by the Director. The successful applicant will also be expected to actively engage in research and education, supervise junior staff and trainees, attend departmental educational, business, and morbidity and mortality meetings.
Key responsibilities of the position will be to assist in the development, implementation and audit of agreed management protocols and models of care consistent with international best practice standards across all areas within the Department and with other related disciplines in the context of current professional knowledge and available resources.

- Possess, or be eligible to possess, specialist registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA); and possess Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) or equivalent as provided for in the Staff Specialist’s State Award;
Experience in complex pulmonary functions testing and reporting
- A commitment to participation in an on-call roster which will be equitably shared with 7 other physicians.
- Current interventional bronchology skill subset to include bronchoscopy, transbronchial lung biopsy and other interventional procedures. Participation in the general thoracic bronchoscopy roster will be required.
- Undertake two outpatient clinics weekly including one Airway Clinic and one General Thoracic Clinic.
- Possess TSANZ accreditation in pleural ultrasound and experience in supervising and teaching trainees in pleural ultrasonography and procedures.
- Sleep accreditation for the provision of sleep consultation service and polysomnographic reporting is a recommendation but not mandatory.
