The Salvation Army is one of Australia’s largest providers of alcohol and other drug services. We offer a range of services including Harm Reduction and Primary Health Services as well as a range of treatment types (including residential treatment centres, community-based support programs, counselling, and withdrawal management services).

William Booth House (WBH) is located on Gadigal lands in Surry Hills. It offers a withdrawal unit and residential rehabilitation.

About the role

We are seeking two values-driven and proactive Alcohol and Other Drug (AOD) Support Workers to welcome and support participants through the process of alcohol and other drug withdrawal and residential rehabilitation.

Reporting to the Team Leader, this is a casual (up to 38 hours per week) position based in Surry Hills, NSW. Salary and conditions are in accordance with SCHADS Level 3.

Willingness to work across a 24/7 roster including stand-up night shifts is required.

You will successfully- Provide a safe and welcoming environment ensuring participant immediate & basic needs are met.- Implement risk management plans including preventative actions and mitigation strategies.- Facilitate daily program of activities which model and foster participation & skills- Support participant self-determination, sense of safety and stability.- Assist participants to access community supports & services to enhance recovery capital- Maintain accurate, up to date participant records and data.- Supervise the self-administration of medication..- Administer drug testing in line with The Salvation Army's AOD Operational Guidelines.- Identify Service gaps and make recommendations for service delivery improvements.

You will have- A minimum Certificate 4 qualification relevant to the work performed and/or Equivalent previous experience in relevant industry, and/or on the job training.- Experience working with people with AOD and Co-occurring issues- An AOD Certificate 4 Core unit AOD Skill set or willingness to undertake if required.- A current and valid First Aid Certificate is required.- A current NSW driver's licence is preferred but not required.
