Richmond, Australia Orthopaedic Surgeon's Office Full time

We are seeking a passionate and committed Medical Secretary to join a busy Orthopaedic Practice in Richmond. Our practice is committed to providing first class service to our patients, whilst providing a professional supportive office environment where everyone works closely as a team.

You will be the first point of contact for patients, your helpful caring approach will support our commitment to exceptional patient care.

**Your primary duties will include but are not limited to**:

- Meeting and greeting patients
- Diary management and patient bookings
- Scheduling appointments for patients both for consulting sessions and theatre bookings
- Creating and updating electronic medical records
- Theatre bookings and providing fee estimates for surgery
- Verifying patients insurance
- Preparing correspondence between medical providers and their patients
- Invoicing and receipting of accounts
- Cash handling, taking of EFTPOS/credit card payments
- Scanning, filing and all notes and patient record keeping, precise data entry as well as maintaining patient confidentiality
- Liaising with third-party insurance companies, lawyers and release of medical information requests
- General office tidying/cleaning
- General day-to-day management of the medical practice

**Essential skills and attributes required but not limited to**:

- Minimum 1 year medical secretarial experience ideally in a surgical practice
- Excellent communication skills between staff and with patients
- Presents themselves in a professional manner both in person and on the phone
- Understanding of Medicare, health funds, Work Cover and TAC billing
- Ability to work cooperatively with our team
- Ability to work unsupervised
- Exceptional organisation and time-management skills
- High-level computer skills with Apple Mac computers
- Fast typing speed
- Good memory with attention to detail
- Be proficient with the use of Genie
- Can multitask efficiently, keeping track of tasks in a fast-pace environment
- IT skills would also be considered favourably
- Mature work ethic and quick learner with can do attitude

Pay: $30.00 - $40.00 per hour
