**Administration Support Officer**
**Purpose of the position**
- The primary objective of this position is to provide high quality administrative and general technical support to the Manager Development Engineering, Team Leader Development Engineering and the Development Engineering Team.
- Provide general administration support for a wide range of engineering and development projects and related issues.
- Co-ordinate administrative requirements of the Department in a cost effective manner and in accordance with statutory requirements, corporate policy & procedures and departmental targets.
**Specialist Skills and Knowledge**
- A very good understanding of the objectives of the Development Engineering Department and Council, as well as the relevant policies of Council with respect to the delivery of subdivision and other development projects.
- A good understanding of the functions of the Department and the requirement of the Manager and Team Leader.
- Basic understanding of engineering plans content and ability to distribute and manage engineering correspondence accordingly.
- Ability to understand and respond efficiently and professionally to enquiries or correspondence, in a technically competent manner.
**Management Skills**
- An ability to manage and/or co-ordinate a diverse range of tasks and set priorities in order to achieve set objectives within a set timetable.
- An understanding of HR practices, including those related to equal employment opportunity, occupational health and safety and performance management.
- Ability to maintain a safe personal work environment and undertake safe working practices.
- Ability to determine the most appropriate method to complete a project or task, acknowledging time and cost implications.
- Ability to manage time and plan and scope work in advance and assist technical personnel to achieve their needs and timelines.
**Qualifications and Experience**
- Proven experience in an administrative role
- Broad understanding of local government service provision
**Key Selection Criteria**
**1. **A developed proficiency in business systems, (including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Authority) including the ability to prepare presentations and reports.
**2.** Outstanding interpersonal skills, incorporating verbal and written communication, liaison, negotiation, initiative, representation and customer service skills.
**3. **A general understanding of how to interpret and manage engineering documentation and engineering document libraries/databases
**4. **A general understanding of community issues regarding subdivision developments and civil infrastructure works (roads, drainage, services)
**5.** Current driver's license.
