About the role

Fazio's is seeking an experienced Sous Chef, passionate about Mediterranean/Italian cuisine, to join the kitchen team at our restaurant in Hampton. As Sous Chef, you will play a key role supporting the Head Chef in the day-to-day management of the kitchen, ensuring the highest standards of quality, presentation and service. This is a full-time (38 hrs/week) ongoing position.

Qualifications
  • Minimum 2-3 years' experience as a Sous Chef or equivalent
  • Qualification - Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery or equivalent relevant certificate required
  • Strong leadership and people management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a team
  • Thorough knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices
  • Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to work under pressure
  • Passion for creating exceptional dining experiences and a commitment to delivering high-quality food
Responsibilities
  • Collaborating with the head chef to design menus and prepare dishes that meet the establishment's standards
  • Overseeing the work of junior chefs and other kitchen personnel to ensure efficient kitchen operations
  • Monitoring the preparation and presentation of dishes to maintain high-quality standards
  • Enforcing hygiene regulations and safety standards to ensure a clean and safe kitchen environment
  • Providing training and guidance to kitchen staff to enhance their skills and performance
  • Overseeing stock levels, ordering supplies, and managing inventory to ensure the kitchen operates smoothly
  • Helping with administrative tasks such as staff scheduling, as required
