Lenny in Albert Park, sister café to Moby in Armadale, is a fast-paced environment seating up to 100 customers. Our tranquil space, inspired by the nearby Port Philip Bay, offers high quality breakfast & lunch options to our local community.

We are looking for a full-time professional Sous Chef to join our team at Lenny. An environment filled with dedicated, fun loving people, we are seeking someone who values long-term success within the role & enjoys working as part of a team.

Ideal for the chef who still enjoys their nights to themselves. Typical shift runs from pm with minimal overtime.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Assumes a hands-on role with day-to-day duties and leads by example on a high level
  • Oversee the preparation, cooking, and presentation of meals to a high standard as directed by the Head Chef
  • Directs kitchen staff and supervisors in preparing, cooking, and presenting culinary dishes, in line with standard recipes
  • Taking control of the kitchen in the absence of the head chef
  • Completes order requisitions and liaises with suppliers of goods
  • Enforcing strict health and hygiene standards and systems in the kitchen
  • Manages & mentors members of the kitchen on behalf of the head chef

Requirements and skills;

  • Full-time work rights
  • Proven experience in a Sous Chef role or Senior CDP in a similar fast paced environment for minimum 2 year
  • Weekend work is required
  • Experience in managing a team
  • Organised and comfortable working in a high-pressure environment
  • Excellent use of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment and processes
  • Ability to multitask and work efficiently under pressure
  • Knowledge of best cooking practices
  • Unquestionable commitment to confidentiality and professionalism
  • Reliable and punctual
  • Communicates clearly and professionally verbally and in writing
