Overview

Duncraig Senior High School (SHS) is situated in the north-western suburbs on the coastal strip, 18 kilometres from Perth. We cater for students from Year 7 to Year 12 and are a school of high standards where the care and progress of every child is our priority. Duncraig is an official Gifted and Talented Selective Academic Program school under the Department of Education's Gifted and Talented Education initiative and offers a School Based Academic Extension program.

The Role

Ideally, we are seeking to appoint an innovative, passionate and collaborative Program Coordinator of Pedagogy and Gifted Education. The successful applicant for this exciting opportunity should display excellent knowledge of current educational research, theory and best practise, have outstanding interpersonal skills and the ability to design and lead whole school and small group professional learning sessions. Experience in coaching of teaching staff and growth coaching training would be highly regarded. The successful applicant will ideally display experience in managing diverse teams and building buy-in across a whole school to support school-wide pedagogy and specialist program initiatives will be highly advantageous.

The successful applicant will build positive and collaborative relationships with external stakeholders. Excellent organisational skills and the ability to meet competing deadlines will be important for the successful candidate. Experience presenting to large audiences including students, families and teachers will be important. The successful applicant's display and awareness of the importance of public relations/marketing, will be highly regarded.

We are seeking a dynamic and innovative leader who ideally has interpersonal, organisational and communication skills, with an ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships. The successful applicant will ideally highlight areas of need and use their skills to lead and bring about positive change to refine practice and programs.

The successful applicant will lead a team of dedicated and passionate staff who support the design, implementation and embedding of programs and initiatives across the school in the following key areas; high quality teaching and the school's Selective Academic Gifted and Talented Program.

The successful applicant should ideally have the capacity to build and maintain a cohesive team comprising of teaching and non-teaching staff. They would work in partnership, with the relevant Associate Principal regarding strategic planning and operations related to whole school pedagogy and gifted education across the school. The successful applicant will also work closely and in collaboration with Heads of Learning Area across the school, therefore, high quality teamwork skills are valued.

This role will include a classroom teaching component. The specifics of this will be negotiated with the successful applicant at the time of appointment.
