The Administrative Assistant role at Department of Education, Western Australia is a 12-month fixed term, full-time position commencing September 2025 with possible extension and/or permanency.
The DirectorateThe Employee Relations Directorate is responsible for ensuring that industrial instruments and legislative frameworks are complied with and that employees are supported in a range of discrete human resource matters. The Directorate comprises two branches: Labour Relations and the Employee Support Bureau, and provides strategic and operational advice to the Minister, Director General, school leaders and line managers on a range of employee relations matters. The Labour Relations Branch operates in a complex human resources industrial environment and is responsible for developing and applying policies and practices; improving employment conditions and workplace flexibility within legislative and economic constraints; and providing strategic, operational, industrial and complaint management advice, training, advocacy and negotiation across central and regional offices and schools.
The RoleThe successful applicant will provide clerical and administrative support to the Manager and the Branch. This includes preparing, processing and delivering incoming and outgoing correspondence, drafting responses, and preparing basic reports. You will support and advise on conversion to permanency reviews and other administrative processes, and maintain an effective correspondence and filing system for corporate information and records related to projects, initiatives, committees and other Branch activities.

You must consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education's Screening Unit before you start.

Selection criteria- Demonstrated experience in general administrative duties.
- Demonstrated written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to liaise with individuals at all levels.
- Demonstrated well-developed keyboarding and computer skills, including a working knowledge of databases, spreadsheets and word processing.
- Demonstrated sound organisational skills with the ability to use initiative and work independently and as part of a team.
