Principal Planner

Join the Regional and Spatial Planning division and help shape the future of Queensland as a Principal Planner in the Shaping SEQ Delivery Office. Use your technical skills as part of a team that delivers research, analysis, mapping and technical inputs to review the South East Queensland Regional Plan and implement actions from this plan, and collaborate with stakeholders to ensure broad support and ensure government processes. This is your chance to make a meaningful impact on housing, infrastructure and community development in Queensland's fastest-growing region. Two flexible fulltime roles available until June 2028.
Responsibilities- Build and maintain working relationships across a wide range of stakeholder groups including local governments, and peak bodies representing the development industry, planning, infrastructure, economic development, agriculture, housing, environment and community sectors.
- Lead regional planning projects, including research and analysis, managing budgets and contractors, chairing meetings of stakeholders, briefing senior leadership on findings and providing advice on complex issues.
- Apply strategic thinking and problem-solving to planning policy and development assessment matters related to regional planning.
- Work collaboratively with senior management, the project team, and state agencies to ensure appropriate government processes, such as cabinet approval, are followed.
- Prioritise and manage tasks efficiently and in line with team commitments and recognise and raise issues that impact on the work of the team.
- Prepare high quality written documentation including correspondence, briefing notes, presentations, spreadsheets and cabinet material.
- Manage the procurement of contractors, products and services for the project, including professional services and tender management.
- Participate in the governance structure for the review of the plan, including preparing reports, presenting information and assisting team members in the running of meetings.
- Actively participate in team meetings and divisional discussions in a respectful manner and share your technical skills and experience to provide support to other officers in the team.
- Represent the department, as appropriate, at meetings, consultation activities, forums, committees, industry/stakeholder events in an effective and professional manner.
