About the business and role
SLR Consulting is a rapidly growing professional services consultancy with over 3,000 multi-discipline consultants across Asia Pacific, Africa, Europe, and North America, and 1000 staff in APAC.

Due to our continued growth and expanding project pipeline, there is a fantastic opportunity for a highly experienced Principal Urban Planner to join our rapidly growing APAC Planning Team.

Our team is made up of a group of highly skilled and motivated Planners with an enthusiastic approach to life and work. We currently service a pipeline of projects from within the built environment, renewable energy, industry, and infrastructure sectors.

In our Brisbane team, you will work closely with 10 other town planners who all share strong ties and collaborate with our wider national Planning team comprising over 50 planners across Townsville, Sydney, Newcastle, Canberra, Melbourne, and Perth. You will also collaborate with many experts across our 21 Technical Disciplines and 23 offices.

Our Brisbane team are a tightknit group of multidisciplinary experts in their field, who also happen to be down to earth, supportive, and fun to be around. Key Responsibilities
Working across a variety of industries and business sectors, you will take the lead on exciting opportunities and exhibit your project management skills to our valued clients.

This role calls for a strong technical understanding of Planning in Queensland, a love of mentoring/accelerating junior planners’ careers, and a proven ability to deliver projects on time and on budget.

General responsibilities will include:

1. Managing the delivery of planning approvals of varying levels of complexity.
2. Delivering planning analysis and research via a commercially astute lens to confidently deliver exceptional results.
3. Leading and working with multidisciplinary teams to deliver projects across various sectors.
4. Developing, facilitating, and enhancing effective relationships with our clients and internal SLR team members, particularly across other technical disciplines.
5. Managing several projects at any one time without direct supervision.
6. Working closely with the team lead to drive team and company growth.
7. Conducting thorough technical reviews and mentoring/development of junior staff.
8. Liaising with clients, councils, consultants, and other government agencies.
9. Using your expertise to work across multi-disciplinary projects within a consulting environment.
10. Business development and high-level client relationship management.

Experience
You will also have:

1. A degree in Town Planning or equivalent.
2. 8+ years of working experience within a consulting business with direct experience in town planning, property, and development.
3. A proven record in delivering client outcomes; experience in the extractives and construction materials sector will also be highly regarded.
4. Demonstrated experience directing and managing multidisciplinary projects.
5. Experience managing projects on your own with good delegation skills.
6. A thorough understanding of project budgets and deliverables while maintaining excellent client service.
7. Strong attention to detail.
8. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
9. Ability to work unsupervised as well as part of a team.
10. Ability to take the initiative and be proactive in your workplace and implement new ideas.
