EDQ has opportunities for two Principal Planners - one full-time permanent and one full-time temporary (6 months).This is your opportunity to become part of our Development Assessment, Planning Services team, a proactive and innovative team that contributes to the delivery of 'on the ground development' in Priority Development Areas (PDAs). Using your specialist land use planning skills and experience, you will assist in managing a diverse range of development applications for greenfield development, special purpose, heritage urban transformation and mixed-use sites.The team is responsible for assessing PDA development applications against PDA development schemes, working closely with other EDQ officers, state bodies, local government, industry, clients, stakeholders and the community, whilst administering the Economic Development Act 2012.To succeed in this role, you will possess the skills to: » Assess, evaluate, analyse and provide recommendations for development applications, whilst providing specific advice in relation to statutory planning.» Provide specialist development assessment advice in the areas of land use, urban design and built form to promote best practice economic, social and environmental outcomes, along with professional written information, interpretations, briefings, presentations and reports.» Provide advice about the interpretation and application of the Economic Development Act 2012 and other relevant development related policy instruments.» Work collaboratively with stakeholders, including departmental officers, state and local government bodies, the development industry and the community, to facilitatetimely and high-quality development assessment outcomes.» Utilise effective communication and negotiation strategies and skills to engage with stakeholder to identify and resolve issues and minimise information requests.» Work independently and proactively to manage your own caseload of development applications, while working collaboratively within a project team to negotiate, prioritise and deliver the Planning team's assessment responsibilities.» Develop and improve approval tools, templates, process, procedures, guidelines, hints / tips that will assist with the development assessment process.Town planning qualifications and extensive statutory planning experience in the public and/or private sector will be highly regarded.EDQ is also looking for people who can contribute to a workplace culture that supports inclusion and diversity, and encourages and supports employees as individuals in an inclusive environment, by applying diverse and inclusive thinking to our business.
