**In the role of Principal Planner (Rail and Public Transport Technical Advice Team) some of your responsibilities will include:

- Leading and managing the timely technical assessment of complex development proposals and infrastructure designations in relation to railways, public passenger transport, corridor protection, state-controlled roads, and active transport matters in accordance with statutory requirements, guidelines and procedures.
- Leading the provision of technical input into the preparation of policies, codes and technical guidelines relating to TMR's transport interests in development assessment and other processes under the Planning Act 2016.
- Leading research and analysis on complex planning and development assessment matters and provide recommendations to both internal and external stakeholders.
- Leading consultation and negotiation with internal and external stakeholders on development assessment matters to ensure results are achieved.
- Fostering effective working relationships with key stakeholders and represent the department at relevant meetings.
- Providing support and mentoring to junior colleagues in development assessment and statutory processes.

To thrive in this role, you will need to demonstrate the following:

- Highly developed town planning skills and significant development assessment experience that you will use to prepare technical advice on a range of rail and public transport planning matters.
- Excellent written and spoken communication skills and experience preparing technical reports and briefings and communicating complex technical material to less technical stakeholders.
- Ability to consistently achieve quality results and work as part of a team to achieve high quality results through professionalism and persistence.
- Ability and experience working in a dynamic environment balancing competing timeframes while also achieving high quality results.
- Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with stakeholders from across a range of areas including within TMR and external to TMR.
