Position Title: Project Accountant (Temporary Full-Time Contract)

Location: Sydney CBD

Salary: 45-50 AUD/hour

Contract Duration: 6-month contract with possible extension

Work Type: Temporary Full-Time

About the Role We are looking for an experienced Project Accountant to join our team on a temporary full-time contract, available to start immediately. In this role, you will play a key part in managing project financials, reporting, and compliance. Proficiency in SAP S/4HANA is essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and track project budgets, costs, and forecasts
  • Collaborate with project managers to ensure accurate financial tracking and reporting
  • Process billing, revenue recognition, accruals, and journal entries
  • Monitor actuals vs budget and prepare variance analysis
  • Maintain accurate project records in SAP S/4HANA
  • Prepare month-end and project-specific financial reports
  • Support internal/external audits and ensure financial compliance
  • Provide financial insight and analysis to support project delivery

Key Requirement
  • CPA/CA qualified or part-qualified (preferred)
  • Hands-on experience with SAP S/4HANA is required
  • Strong knowledge of project costing, WIP, and financial reporting
  • Excellent Excel and data analysis skills
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work with cross-functional teams
  • Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines
