Part-Time / Contract Accounts & Bookkeeping Professional

Location:
Sydney (in-office one day per week)

is a nationally recognised property law firm specialising in complex, high-value and often time-sensitive matters. We act for individuals, businesses, and organisations across Australia, delivering strategic legal solutions in through our litigation work. Our firm is known for its excellence, attention to detail, and strong client focus.

As our practice continues to grow, we are looking for an experienced accounts professional to support our team with the financial management of the firm. This role is ideal for someone who is highly organised, detail-oriented, and confident in working independently.

About the role

This is a part-time or contract position, requiring
one day per week in our Sydney office
. You will work closely with our principal lawyer and operations manager to ensure the smooth and efficient running of our accounts and financial processes.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • General bookkeeping and accounts management
  • Payables
  • Preparing and issuing monthly client billing
  • Processing payslips and managing staff salaries using Xero
  • Maintaining accurate trust account records and reconciliations
  • Overseeing creditor and debtor management
  • Assisting with financial reporting and compliance requirements
  • Supporting the operations team with ad hoc finance-related tasks

What we're looking for

We're seeking someone with:

  • Proven experience (law firm experience preferred) in accounts, bookkeeping, or financial administration (legal industry experience will be highly regarded but is not essential)
  • Strong proficiency with Xero (including payroll)
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in all financial processes
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to meet deadlines
  • A proactive, reliable, and independent approach to work
