Accountant (Parental Leave Contract)

We're on the hunt for an Accountant to join our crew for a up to 12 month Parental Leave contract. This role is perfect for a detail-oriented, proactive, and ethical professional with 2-4+ years of experience in accounts, bookkeeping, or finance administration. You'll be a key member of the finance team, responsible for the day-to-day operations like Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and assisting with payroll.

What you'll own:

  • Manage end-to-end Accounts Payable and Receivable processes, ensuring accurate and timely payment and invoice management.
  • Assist with monthly payroll processing across AU, NZ, and USA.
  • Support month-end activities, financial reconciliations, and journal entries.
  • Assist with tax preparation and submissions (e.g., BAS and Payroll Tax).
  • Support external audits through documentation management and auditor liaison.
  • Support the identification of financial risks and help establish preventative controls.
  • Uphold financial and ethical standards, ensuring integrity in all transactions.

What you'll bring:

  • 2-4+ years' experience in accounts, bookkeeping, or finance administration roles.
  • Strong understanding of accounting processes, payroll systems, and compliance requirements.
  • Hands-on experience with accounting software such as Xero and payment systems like NAB Connect and Stripe (preferred).
  • High proficiency in Excel and experience with reconciliation and month-end processes.
  • Familiarity with Australian tax and payroll legislation; knowledge of NZ/US payroll is a plus.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy in financial data entry and reconciliation.
  • Ethical, trustworthy, and confidential in handling sensitive financial and payroll information.
  • Organised and capable of managing competing priorities and deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills for liaising with internal and external stakeholders.
  • A proactive team player who is willing to assist in broader finance initiatives.
