Role Overview

  • Permanent part-time or casual position s for that perfect work-life balance
  • Located at our Central Brisbane (QLD) Office
  • Remuneration: SCHADS 3.1 [Pay point is dependent on qualifications and relevant experience] + 11 % Super + penalty rates & NFP Salary Packaging.

Counsellor Support Workers play a significant role in facilitating appropriate support to women and children impacted by domestic, family and sexual violence across Queensland. Being a phone-based service, incoming phone calls are to be handled with a professional, culturally sensitive, and non-judgmental approach to ensure appropriate action is taken to maintain client safety.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Arranging emergency accommodation and travel
  • Assisting with referral pathway procedures
  • Managing the client and service telephone lines
  • Ensure database and QHIP entries are of high quality and accuracy
  • Build and foster positive relationships with external stakeholders

Role Requirements

**It is a genuine requirement that for the role to be filled by a woman as permitted in sections 25, 104 and 105 of the Anti-Discrimination Act, 1991**

  • Tertiary qualification (or working towards completion) relevant areas such as Social, Behavioural and Criminology sciences OR obtained appropriate social and community services certifications/qualifications.
  • Minimum 1 year experience in social and community service sector(s).
  • Sound knowledge about gender-based violence and underpinnings of domestic, family, and sexual violence.
  • Significant demonstrated ability to manage sensitive situations in a calm manner.
  • Quality, timeliness, and accuracy in presentation of work.
  • Highly developed IT and phone-based skills.
  • Positive Notice Blue Card, National Police Check and valid ID or willingness to obtain.
  • Right to work in Australia.
  • Willingness to undertake further training and development.
  • Must be able to work from the office (No WFH arrangements).
  • Receive best practice clinical supervision and supportive 1:1 catch ups with your dedicated Team Leader.
  • Access free professional and confidential mental health and wellbeing support for both personal and work-related issues through EAP Brisbane.
  • Free flu shots.
  • Access long service leave after 5 years.
