About the Opportunity

We are seeking a skilled School Counsellor to join our team in Cairns, a vibrant and diverse city in tropical North Queensland. As a School Counsellor, you will play a vital role in providing child and adolescent support services, working closely with other staff to support students and families.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in counselling, with experience in a school setting (desirable). You will be responsible for providing direct counselling support, coordinating support for students with other health professionals, and enhancing promotion and prevention activities in the school.

To be successful in this role, you will need to have:

  • A completed diploma, degree, or postgraduate course in counselling;
  • AHPRA registration;
  • Experience in a school setting (desirable);
  • HLTAID004 Certificate - Provide Emergency First Aid Response in an Education and Care Setting (desirable);
  • HLTAID001 Certificate - Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) (desirable);
  • Current First Aid Certificate and Positive Notice Working with Children (Blue Card);
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills;
  • Ability to relocate or already live in Cairns.
