Be challenged and imagine with us As Technical Project Officer, you will provide technical support and advice for strategic projects and initiatives coordinated by the Newcastle Institute for Energy and Resources (NIER).

You will report to the NIER Deputy Director on project milestones, and collaborate closely with the NIER Precinct Coordinator, who oversees precinct activities related to infrastructure, services, and safety.


In this role you will:
Provide technical input for business cases, documentation, and due diligence activities for strategic research infrastructure initiatives.
Offer timely project management advice and reports to the NIER Deputy Director on legislative and regulatory issues.
Facilitate project user groups and participate in relevant meetings to ensure transparency and alignment with funding and timelines.
Work collaboratively with Infrastructure and Facilities Services to finalise project package/scope for infrastructure components.

This fixed term position is until June 2026, is full time, and will be located at the Callaghan Campus (Awabakal and Worimi land).

How will you inspire us?Your proven project management skills in complex, commercially focused environments include a strong understanding of project planning, management, and contractual adherence.

You have significant experience establishing collaborative working relationships and are adept at aligning organisational goals and key performance indicators with the delivery of project outcomes.

What we offer The remuneration for this position isfrom$99,655 to $112, %superannuation and is commensurate with skills and experience.

Tertiary qualifications and experience in relevant areas (such as project management, engineering workshop management, planning or construction management); or an Associate Diploma and extensive experience in a technical role; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and qualifications.

Proven project management experience in a commercially focused, complex environment including good understanding of project planning and management, and contractual adherence.

Significant experience working in a professional environment with an understanding of organisational goals and processes to measure outcomes against key performance indicators.

Demonstrated excellent facilitation, communication, and problem-solving skills, including the ability to negotiate, resolve conflict and influence to establish effective working partnerships with internal and external clients.

Ability to generate a strong sense of team spirit, cooperation, and collaboration within and across teams.
