As Technical Officer for the School of Humanities, Creative Industries and Social Sciences, you will provide high-level technical advice and service to support the practical teaching and learning activities of the School.


In this role you will:

  • Support staff and students by conducting the setup, instruction, supervision and packup/cleanup of creative workshops, labs, and studios.
  • Provide highlevel technical support and service to exhibitions, performances, productions, events and activities within the School.
  • Provide operating expertise for a range of technical equipment and facilities including training staff and students in equipment operation, setup, WHS compliance and repairing equipment/arranging external repairs as needed.
  • This continuing position is full time and will be located in Newcastle City (Q Building) (Awabakal and Worimi land)._

  • Demonstrated experience providing technical support in a laboratory environment and knowledge of safe laboratory practices.
  • Demonstrated time management skills and the ability to work to competing deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills including the ability to build effective working relationships with staff and students.

What we offer:

The remuneration for this position is from $77,858 to $90, % superannuation and is commensurate with skills and experience.

  • Demonstrated extensive experience in a technical support role assisting a diverse range of stakeholders with setup, operation and training in equipment and materials in a workshop/lab/studio/performance/exhibition or similar environment.
  • Experience in a technical support role with responsibility for facilities/equipment, their operation and replacement strategies.
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills including the ability to participate in a team environment demonstrating clear communication and mutual respect.
