We are currently seeking a motivated Operational Service Manager to oversee a talented team of technicians, service advisors and support staff at our service centre, located in the city hub of Cairns, Far North Queensland. Catering for 6 brands from Prestige to high volume brands like Mercedes Benz Land Rover Kia MG and Ford.

With approximately 27 staff under your control, you will be directly supported by a Warranty Manager, CRM Manager and Workshop Controller, Workshop Foreman along with 18 odd technicians/apprentices and ancillary staff. With a strong commitment to staff training in areas requiring technical certification or business management and skills development, this role demands a Service Manager with the experience in achieving factory KPI's along with controlling costs and exceeding company budgets.

With a greater focus on the customer experience from manufacturers, meeting critical benchmarks in this area is all important to ensure manufactures targets and KPI's are meant consistently.

About the role.

Our client's goal is to be a leading automotive service centre for our brands and for the next generation of PHEV and EV technologies.

You will be responsible for the day-to-day service operation of no less than 6 brands comprising of a mix of high volume and prestige brands operating out of our main service facility in the city centre.
This role will challenge you to innovate and transform traditional service methods by implementing new systems and processes alongside current service activities.

To achieve this you will require excellent team leadership skills with an understanding of the importance of creating a work environment that brings out the best in your team on consistence basis. With eye always on the expectations set by the manufactures to achieve NPS/CSI scores that in turn create a customer experience that is second to none.

This is a hands on role where you are spending your time with your staff and customers on the concrete. This is not a role where you are confined to an office, but a role where you are involved in the everyday activity and managing the department by walking around and communicating with customers and staff alike.

Finding solutions to problematic situations and everyday challenges go hand in hand with a busy workshop doing upwards of 70 RO's per day and growing.

Ensuring the ongoing development and technical expertise of our technicians and apprentices. Having them gain the knowledge and confidence as we move into a new phase of EV vehicles.
Ability to control costs while growing profitability across the service department. An emphasis on regular reporting and accountability is required, as you work closely with the management team and report to the Fixed Operations Manager to build a bigger and better 'next generation' service offering.

Attractive remuneration package consisting of salary and commission with an OTE of $ including an income guarantee for the first 3 months.

Our client is the largest Automotive group in Cairns with no less than 13 new car brands and continues to provide exceptional service to their loyal clients through their service departments, with continued facility improvements and additional equipment acquisitions this service centre is primed for continued growth.

Theyhave been in business for over 30 years in Cairns with a strong history of community involvement.

With approximately 18 Techs and apprentices plus support staff this is a high-volume operation.

Remuneration package – Retainer $90k + minimum monthly commission and added performance bonuses would see an On Target Yearly Earn at $150k-$160k per year +Super. A fully maintained company car + fuel, and laptop will be provided.

Hours of work - Mon-Fri 7.30am - 6.00pm
