About the opportunity


NSW Health Pathology is currently seeking a skilled Administration Officer to join the Anatomical Pathology Department at John Hunter Hospital in Newcastle.

Operating in a busy and dynamic environment, the Anatomical Pathology Laboratory at John Hunter Hospital conducts tests for surgical patients across Newcastle and the Hunter Valley region.


Nestled on the beautiful, sun-drenched eastern coastline of New South Wales, just over two hours north of Sydney, Newcastle is a vibrant city bursting with things to do.

Spectacular beaches and coastal scenery, with ocean baths and some of the country's best surfing spots, are only just the start.

What you'll be doing


The Administration Officer provides effective administrative and office support services for the Anatomical Pathology Department, whilst ensuring all tasks undertaken are managed in a timely manner.


  • Proven computer literacy and strong keyboard skills with speed and accuracy, including use of digital transcription equipment.
  • Demonstrated ability and initiative to work both as part of a team and independently, supporting your team members and management, with sound knowledge of administrative procedures in health setting.
  • Demonstrated strong customer focus and commitment to providing exceptional services to all clients (internal and external to the organistion).
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills including strong written and verbal English and be capable of professionally liaising and working with stakeholders across all levels of the organisation using different modes of communication in a technical and business context.
  • Knowledge of medical and anatomical terminology is desirable.
