Kiama Council is currently going through a period of change and is committed to putting the right people in the right roles to transform its business.

We currently have an opportunity for a Manager Property and Recreation, responsible for managing Council's commercial, property and recreation related services including:

  • Commercial property and public land management
  • Kiama Coast Holiday Parks
  • Recreation services and planning
  • Parks, gardens and open spaces
  • Beach lifeguard services.
This is a fantastic opportunity for the right person, who will have accountability for delivering critical initiatives and programs to support Council and our community, including:

  • Review of Council's commercial activities to maximise returns
  • Property Divestment Program
  • Open Space & Recreation Strategy actions
  • Holiday Park compliance program
  • Permanent full time, 35 hours per week
  • Attractive remuneration package commensurate with qualifications, skills and experience
- plus 10.5% superannuation

  • A leaseback vehicle for operational and private use
  • A mobile phone and lap top.

What you'll need to be successful in the role...

  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline to the role (e.g., Commerce, Business, Accounting, or other discipline relevant to the position) or equivalent experience
  • Extensive experience in managing commercial property portfolio including holiday parks, leases, license
  • Strong business and political acumen including financial management, budgetary control, and operational planning
  • A high level of analytical and problemsolving skills with the capacity to inspire or support innovative thinking
  • A high level of interpersonal skills and ability to consult and liaise with internal and external stakeholders, local organisations, and community
  • Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills
  • Demonstrated experience in leading change and embedding a culture of continuous improvement and quality customer service, as well as delivering effective staff development and timely performance management
  • Demonstrated experience in building and managing relationships, and the ability to keep a customer focused approach in all aspects of the business
  • Expertise in developing and implementing effective community consultation strategies and processes
  • Extensive experience managing and leading a diverse workforce and developing high performing teams within a resourceconstrained environment
  • Demonstrated experience developing/managing strategic documents, budgets, policy and operational plans to meet community expectations
  • Class C Driver's Licence.
