About the role

  • As part of our recently extended contract with the Department of Justice, Ventia have a rare opportunity for a
    Deputy Care and Security Manager
    to join the Armadale Court House
    team in WA
  • This role will see you as a critical member of the operational management team, where you will be supported and mentored by the Care & Security Manager and will see you assist in the delivery of an effective and efficient court operation and support the development of your team.
  • In addition, you will ensure the correct deployment of staff across the region and be responsible for the daytoday performance of the Care & Custody Officers under your control, as well as the management of custody areas within court.
Your duties will include but are not limited to**:

  • Supervise staff in the manned court area
  • Prepare duty rosters, including allocating daily duties and staff
  • Liaise with the Court Coordinator on all staffing matters
  • Check all warrants and other relevant official paperwork in your delegated court
  • Ensure that all courts within the cluster are effectively manned
  • Ensure monthly audit compliance

Skills and experience:

  • Certificate III in Corrective Practice, preferred but not mandatory
  • Senior First Aid & CPR or equivalent
  • Demonstrated experience supervising and supporting staff, preferably within a custodial environment
  • Thorough knowledge of the PIC court and custody business
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and strong leadership potential
  • Great computer skills for the purposes of reporting and ensure the data capture management system (ePEMS) is kept up to date in all aspects
  • Great communication skills in order to engage with stakeholders including courts and police amongst other
  • The ability to problem solve and act on your own initiative
  • Applicants must be flexible (working hours) and have a positive outlook

Other mandatory conditions, to be eligible for this position:

  • Be an Australian Permanent Resident or Citizen (people holding visas will not be considered)
  • Be able to obtain and maintain an Australian Federal Police Check, Criminal History Check & Working with Children Check
  • Undergo a preemployment clinic medical including a drug & alcohol test
