Role:

Teacher and Student Support
Assist teachers and students in locating reference materials and internet resources.

  • In consultation with staff and /or teaching staff, undertake instruction to students in specific area e.g., use of specific software programs, information skills program, internet searching skills, interactive white boards, research skills etc.
Promoting appropriate reading to students

Supervising Year 11 and 12 students in an allocated study area for each period of the day

Maintaining accurate attendance records or the study periods

Liaising with the Senior School Team regarding the students behaviours with the study periods.

Technical

  • Maintain the automated library catalogue system.
  • Maintain hardware and software.
  • Gain understanding of SCIS and Clickview.
  • Provision of documentation, policies and procedures for the system.
  • Communication of hardware/software problems and resolutions.
  • Reporting of developments through attendance at user group meetings.
  • Undertake bibliographic searching and verification using computerised databases and bibliographic tools.
  • Assist in the curation of web tools and resources for specific curriculum requests.
  • Organise and maintain specialist collections and equipment e.g. class sets
  • Prepare library newsletters, genre brochures and other library documentation.
  • Prepare and set up of displays and exhibitions.

Effectiveness measures

  • Maintain the library management system
  • Staff and students are supported in the provision and use of Library resources.
  • The Library services are of a high level that meets the needs of the school community.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the provision of a range of administrative support functions for the Principal and teaching staff.
  • Provide administrative support to external service providers as required.
  • Manage the processing of student admissions, registrations, enrolments and transfers.
  • Provide required level of administrative support for school events, functions and projects.
  • Implement induction programs for new staff, volunteers and other workers to the school.
