What's the job?


Reporting to the Library Support Coordinator, the Library Technician is responsible for deliver high-quality library services and resources to students and staff in a face-to-face and online environment.


Day-to-day accountabilities:

  • Assisting users with locating and accessing library resources, including books, journals, electronic resources, and multimedia materials.
  • Providing circulation services, such as checking out and returning materials, processing holds, and resolving circulation issues.
  • Maintaining the library's physical and electronic collections, including shelving, inventorying, and weeding materials.
  • Processing new materials, including cataloguing and labelling books, journals, and other materials.
  • Assisting with interlibrary loan services, including processing requests and delivering materials to users.
  • Providing technical support to library users, including assistance with computers, software, and other technologies.
  • Provide individualised and cohort-based academic coaching to students
  • Collaborating with the team to develop and implement library policies, procedures, and services.
  • Participating in library outreach and promotion efforts, including designing displays and creating promotional materials.

This is a permanent full time role based in Melbourne (Flinders Campus).


Who you are- A Diploma of Library Information Services or equivalent is required for this position, along with relevant library work experience.

- Sound understanding of usage and collection of data and be able to maximise library services accordingly- A passion for delivering the best experience to students- Demonstrated reporting skills (desirable)- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
