About the opportunity

We have a great opportunity to join the People and Projects branch and a newly established team with a passion for visitor servicing.

We're seeking an enthusiastic and passionate individual to join our team and contribute to various operational, customer service and administrative activities by providing supervisory coverage across the Library's volunteer programs.


In this role you will have primary responsibility for delivering the day-to-day operations of a seven day per week visitor facing volunteer program.

The operational work environment is dynamic and requires exceptional organisational and communication skills. The position undertakes various operational, customer service and administrative activities while providing flexible supervisory coverage across the volunteer program.

This role works across a 7 day a week roster including weekends and public holidays.

About you

In addition, you will come to us with:

  • Experience in the development, supervision and performance management of staff and volunteers.
  • Experience working in a tourism role or similar, in particular a visitor information service/major attraction or landmark cultural institution.
  • Proven ability to work as part of a team and use initiative to enhance the work of the team.
  • Demonstrated experience rostering and coordinating team activities to provide an excellent visitor experience.
  • Proven ability to show flexibility in adopting new work practices and meeting competing priorities and business needs.
  • Competent written, oral communication and presentation skills.
  • Proficiency in using relevant software and technology for administrative tasks.
  • State Library Victoria is a childsafe organisation. A valid Working with Children Check will be required before commencing.
