About the Company


Our client is a leading energy provider in Australia, and they have been at the forefront of energy innovation in Australia.

Due to some capital programs and upgrades, they are seeking a Technical Operations Specialist/ Process Engineer to join the team on a 12 month fixed term position.


About the Role
The Technical Operations Specialist will be based out of the Tomago facility.

In this role you will be responsible for understanding the safe operation and optimisation of plant operation and process performance on site.

As Technical Operations Specialist you will liaises with the site in technical activities and in defining process/operational improvements and develops these into improvement projects in liaison with site staff and with the larger engineering support team.


  • Technically review the operational performance of the site.
  • Lead the operations team in developing optimised operating guidelines.
  • Review Standard Operating Procedures with Operations including updates to SOP training modules.
  • Provide plant process engineering support including troubleshooting support for plant upsets.
  • Provide process engineering support for small to medium sized capital projects to improve plant.

Skills & Experience:
  • Tertiary qualifications in Chemical/Process Engineering (preferred) or significant trade and operational experience.
  • Demonstrable highlevel understanding of the principles and practice of process engineering, operations and continuous improvement.
  • Interpersonal skills with high quality written and verbal communications skills.
  • Experience in interpreting Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), Process Flow Diagrams (PFD), process measurements and other sources of process information.
  • Heavy industry experience (Desired)
