About the job

We are looking for a dynamic and experienced Lead Engineer for our Structural and Materials team to join the Sustainable Infrastructure group. This role focuses on leading and developing engineering teams, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, customer-focused solutions for SA Water’s capital and non-capital projects. You will drive innovation, sustainability, and value in project scoping and execution, collaborating closely with internal stakeholders and external partners.

In addition, your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading and managing a team of engineering professionals.
  • Ensuring the team delivers sustainable, fit-for-purpose solutions in line with customer and project requirements.
  • Driving the adoption of Systems Engineering and Value Management.
  • Building strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners.
  • Promoting a culture of safety, sustainability, and service excellence.
  • Overseeing front-end engineering investigations, condition assessments, concept designs, and scoping activities for capital and non-capital projects.
  • Supporting the transition to Sustainable Engineering across SA Water.

Your success in this role will come from:

  • Professional Engineering qualifications (B.Eng. or similar) in a relevant discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading engineering teams and managing complex projects.
  • Strong knowledge of Systems Engineering, Value Management, and OPEX/CAPEX investigations.
  • Exceptional stakeholder management, communication, and collaboration skills.
