Our client, a well-established school in Townsville, is seeking an experienced and visionary Head of Technology to lead their Technologies Faculty. This is an exceptional opportunity for a senior educator who is passionate about technology and digital literacy to take on a role that combines teaching excellence with strategic leadership.

In this position, you will have the chance to influence the direction of technology education, ensuring that students are equipped with the skills they need to thrive in a rapidly evolving digital world.

As the Head of Technology, you will be responsible for managing and delivering a comprehensive Technology curriculum that incorporates all elements of design and digital technologies. You will also oversee the school's unique Future Ready Skills (FRS) program, which empowers students in Years 7-9 to develop critical and creative thinking skills through real-world problem-solving.

Task and Responsibilities:

  • Lead the Technologies Faculty, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, innovative technology programs that meet the needs of a diverse student body.
  • Teach a broad range of technology subjects from Years 7-12, fostering a creative and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Develop and implement strategic plans for the Technologies Faculty, aligning with the school’s vision and educational goals.
  • Mentor and support faculty members, promoting professional growth and collaboration.
  • Manage the integration of digital literacy across the curriculum, staying current with educational trends and best practices.
  • Oversee the implementation of the Future Ready Skills program, ensuring its success and alignment with industry standards.
  • Engage with the school community, participating in extracurricular activities and promoting the importance of technology education.

Skills and Experience:

  • Extensive experience teaching technology subjects across Years 7-12.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in an educational setting, with a proven ability to inspire and motivate staff.
  • Strong digital literacy skills and an in-depth understanding of contemporary teaching pedagogy.
  • Knowledge of the Queensland Curriculum and its application in technology education.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a collaborative approach to working with colleagues and students.
  • Commitment to pastoral care, ensuring the social and emotional well-being of students.

Qualification Requirements:

  • Current registration with the Queensland College of Teachers (QCT).
  • Relevant qualifications in technology education or a related field.
  • A passion for technology and a desire to lead in a forward-thinking educational environment.
