We have a magnificent opportunity for a talented Customer Data Governance Specialist to join our high performing and collaborative Customer Data Enablement and Governance team. Working as part of the Customer Data Governance Team, the role will be leading the implementation of key components of Kmart and Target’s Data Governance Framework.

Reporting to the Data Governance Manager, this role will actively engage with both internal and external stakeholders to lead the implementation of our data governance application for our customer data assets, monitor and work with the business to uplift customer data quality and improve data management and governance in alignment with the Data Governance Framework.

What you’ll be doing

  • Ensuring customer data assets are effectively managed and used throughout their lifecycle including capture, classification, accessibility, quality management, security and retention/disposal

  • Leverage and embed Kmart's data governance application Alation into the Customer Experience & Insights teams' data practices

  • Participate in enterprise data governance forums and share best practices and benefits of effective data governance

  • Manage and maintain key customer data governance artefacts including glossaries, inventories and catalogues

To be successful in this team you will have:  

  • Demonstrated experience in the implementation and use of applications that enable the management and use of customer data (e.g Alation, SODA)

  • Demonstrated experience in data quality management, master data management and data lineage management

  • Experience with Snowflake, PowerBI and Alation data governance tool advantageous

  • Bachelor’s degree in data management or related discipline

  • Exceptional planning, communication, presentation, negotiating and influencing skills. 

  • Demonstrated capability to work autonomously, think strategically and understand business dynamics.
