How will I help? 

The Group Investigations (GI) team provide investigative services to business units across the Westpac Group. This includes the investigation of serious misconduct and Whistleblower investigations. GI also provide insights into conduct themes arising from their investigations across the Group.

As a Senior Manager in Group Investigations, you will be responsible for ensuring that investigations are undertaken in a consistent, safe, respectful and considered 

way, and that people are appropriately supported during the investigation process. In your role, as well leading investigations yourself you will also provide guidance to a team of investigation specialists in the management of their investigations. Specifically, you will approve investigation plans, corroborate interviews, review evidence and final investigation reports. You will regularly report on investigation progress, risks and outcomes to Executive Managers GI, Head of GI as well as to senior stakeholders across the Group. In addition to this, you will: 

  • Adhere to Group Investigation guidelines and operating procedures. 
  • Identify weaknesses in process and procedures within banking products and systems and adhere to our incident management process 
  • Ensure all matters investigated, inclusive of data and intel collation, are maintained and escalated within current regulatory reporting standards
  • Contribute actively to strategic planning processes and help to ensure a shared understanding of strategic direction and corporate priorities 
  • Model and promote workplace diversity principles and foster a safe and healthy working environment in delivering investigation outcomes 
  • Provide adhoc coverage of the Executive Manager role.

What do I need?

To be successful in this role you will have proven experience working in conducting and oversighting Investigations. You will have leadership experience and preferably have expertise in Executive and/or Board reporting – both oral and written. Experience of working in any area of Legal, Financial Services, Risk or Compliance is essential, and you should have extensive industry knowledge in terms of criminal law, workplace investigation techniques and processes. In addition to this, you will: 

  • Understand Westpac Group systems i.e. Hogan, GOE, OBP, RB SOL, and have advanced knowledge of the Westpac Group Incident Management Framework. 
  • Proficient report writer with proven ability to succinctly articulate complex findings.  
  • Demonstrated ability in leading investigations in law enforcement or corporate environment. 
  • Demonstrate strong ability to build and maintain key stakeholder relationships.
