We are seeking a Training & Communications Officer for a 4-month temporary contract to join a local council team in the western suburbs of Melbourne. In this role, you will be instrumental in supporting the adoption and effective use of technology systems and hardware. You will create and deliver engaging training programs and manage internal communications to ensure staff are confident in using new technologies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Training Development & Delivery:
    Plan, develop, and deliver training for technology systems, applications, and hardware. Offer training through classroom sessions, MS Teams, and self-paced e-learning, ensuring that materials are relevant, clear, and up-to-date.
  • Stakeholder Engagement:
    Work closely with internal teams, vendors, and subject matter experts to ensure successful training initiatives. Foster strong relationships with stakeholders to keep training materials and communication up to date.
  • Support & Feedback:
    Provide quality end-user support across a variety of systems and technologies, assisting staff with troubleshooting and system adoption. Collect feedback to refine and improve training and system usage.
  • Communication Planning & Execution:
    Develop and manage communications across the organization regarding technology projects, system updates, and changes. Ensure staff are kept informed and updated with clear, timely information.
  • Onboarding & Continuous Improvement:
    Deliver introductory systems training as part of staff onboarding. Use feedback to continuously improve training programs and communication strategies.
  • Documentation & Reporting:
    Develop and maintain technical documentation, including training guides and work instructions. Regularly report on the progress and outcomes of training initiatives.
  • Risk Management:
    Ensure that all IT training and communication processes adhere to sound risk management practices and organizational policies.

Skills & Experience:

  • IT Support: Assist with the maintenance of desktop and mobile hardware, software, and associated peripherals. Provide end-user support for a range of systems and technologies.
  • Hardware & Software Upgrades: Install, test, and implement hardware and software upgrades as directed to ensure systems operate smoothly.
  • Training & Communication: Strong training and communication skills, able to explain technical concepts clearly to non-technical staff.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Windows 10Office, and general software applications.
  • Exceptional customer service skills with a focus on troubleshooting and providing solutions to technical issues.
  • Experience in developing and maintaining training resources, including guides and instructional materials.
  • Familiarity with local government operating environments or business systems is an advantage.

Additional Requirements:

  • Police Check is required for this role.
  • Local Council Experience 
  • This is a temporary contract for 4 months, with a rate of $51.25 per hour.
