The Koorie Liaison Team Leader is accountable for designing, implementing and reviewing Koorie Liaison unit services and programs including student support model, curriculum input, Institute guidance and Community liaison and engagement.

The position is accountable for leading the development, delivery and review of Koorie Student Support Program with the aim of providing holistic, wrap-around support to Koorie students, from pre-enrolment through to graduation.***

The role leads the Koorie Student Support Officers (KSSOs) to provide engagement and retention strategies to support Koorie Learners achieve their study goals, engage in student life, and balance their personal wellbeing needs. The program engages students through a range of support modes including individual support, workshops, group sessions, events and engagement activities that will also aim connect Koorie students with outside Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities to provide future cultural support beyond their time at Chisholm.

The position is accountable for providing advice and guidance to the Institute to strengthen the capacity to provide culturally inclusive resources and programs that respect the value of Koorie culture, including contributing to Chisholm's Strategic Plan of 2025-2029 in partnership with senior stakeholders.

The Koorie Liaison Team Leader represents Chisholm in a range of external and internal forums, building and maintaining partnerships with major Aboriginal organisations, networks and groups, and also engages senior stakeholders across the organisation, to provide Aboriginal cultural perspectives in matters such as employment/professional development and course curriculum, to meet strategic objectives.

The Koorie Liaison Team Leader is a key and active participant of the Student Support and Engagement leadership team and will implement, drive and support agreed priorities to ensure organisational outcomes are achieved.

**ABOUT YOU**

You are a highly motivated individual with well-developed skills, experience and qualifications in-- A relevant tertiary qualification and/or substantial experience working with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples in a support or education environments.
- Comprehensive knowledge of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander culture and established connection with local Community and Aboriginally owned businesses and organisations.
- Established connection with senior members and Elders of local Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Community and key connection points for local guidance and advice.
- A critical requirement of the position is an understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander protocols and to effectively and sensitively consult, negotiate and communicate with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Councils, Elders, and communities.
- Experience designing and implementing wellbeing programs/initiatives.
- Demonstrated understanding of the Victorian Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander community and the ability to communicate effectively with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people of all ages.
- Understanding of the specific cultural and historical issues that impact on Aboriginal students, particularly in response to intergenerational trauma and the Stolen Generations.
- Experience leading teams and/or stakeholders in the delivery of wellbeing programs/initiatives.
- Experience leveraging a range of multidisciplinary supports to deliver student engagement and retention.
- Capacity to work collaboratively in multi-disciplinary teams in a large organisation.
