
Koorie Education Liaison Officer

This role plays a pivotal part in promoting educational opportunities for Koorie children and young people.
The successful candidate will foster collaborative relationships with key stakeholders to enhance engagement, wellbeing, and achievement for Koorie children and young people.
- Foster effective partnerships with a range of key stakeholders to work towards improving engagement, wellbeing, and achievement for Koorie children and young people.
- Cultivate access to universal and targeted educational services for Koorie families and communities.
- Negotiate with key stakeholders to improve access to culturally responsive educational services that provide suitable programs.
- Develop and maintain partnerships with government departments, community agencies, and local communities to promote the development of collaborative programs and initiatives related to improving achievements for Koorie children and young people.
- Cultivate local Koorie input into the delivery of culturally appropriate educational services.
Key Requirements:
Specialist Expertise - Koorie Engagement & CultureThe successful candidate will have a comprehensive understanding and awareness of local Koorie history and cultural protocols. They will be able to identify and communicate local Koorie community priorities and issues to education service providers. Additionally, they will have the ability to appropriately promote and facilitate the understanding and observance of local Koorie culture and protocols.
Project ManagementThe successful candidate will possess excellent project management skills, including developing project plans, coordinating regular meetings, anticipating potential issues, and facilitating solutions to ensure program objectives are met.
Relationship BuildingThe successful candidate will be able to establish and maintain effective relationships with people at all levels, stakeholder groups, organisations, and communities. They will build trust through consistent action, communication, and implementation.
Initiative & AccountabilityThe successful candidate will be proactive, initiates action, and follows referral and reporting processes. They will take responsibility for their own actions and behaviours.
CommunicationThe successful candidate will have excellent written and verbal communication skills, including ensuring any written communication contains necessary information to achieve its purpose and intent, and effectively conveying information in a clear and engaging way.
