Aboriginal Community Liaison Officer Role

This role supports Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people engaging with the Magistrates' Court of Victoria.

The position plays a vital part in improving the court experience and outcomes for Koori individuals and their families.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Assist and advise the Court on cultural issues affecting Koori people in Victoria
  • Provide advice and access to services for Koori offenders and families encountering the Court
  • Raise awareness within the court system of cross-cultural issues
  • Maintain and foster links between the Magistrates' Court, the Children's Court and the Aboriginal community
  • Liaise with the Aboriginal community to inform them of court processes including Koori Court
