**Job Title:** Koori Support Officer

About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to provide support services to members of the Victorian Koori community who are accessing the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT). As a Koori Support Officer, you will play a vital role in ensuring that these individuals receive the assistance they need to navigate the complex cultural issues that arise when accessing civil justice.

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing referrals to relevant services, offering support options to help Koori people attend VCAT hearings and achieve positive outcomes. You will work collaboratively with the Koori community to educate them on their civil justice options and provide in-person support and information at designated VCAT venues. This role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of our clients and contribute to delivering progressive changes that increase culturally safe spaces and options for Koori people within the VCAT system.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport with the Koori community. You will have experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, preferably in a similar support or advocacy role. A high level of cultural awareness and understanding is essential, as well as the ability to navigate complex cultural issues and sensitivities.

Key Responsibilities
