**The Unit**

SBS's Access Services & Program Preparation (ASPP) unit is responsible for the production or oversight of all subtitling, captioning and audio description for SBS programming. It is part of the Broadcast Technology Operations & Services (BTO&S) team, which is accountable for all internal Technology services involved with getting content produced, edited, and on air.

**The Role**

The role of an English Subtitle Editor is to provide our audience with access to SBS content by preparing English-language subtitles for translation and for digital streaming, and subsequently for finalising LOTE subtitles, all to a quality appropriate to SBS's needs.
- Main tasks of the role:_
- Prepare and finalise subtitles, and other relevant texts to ensure SBS content is accessible to our audience
- Ensure that the quality, consistency and efficiency of your subtitle editing allows SBS to meet broadcast standards and deadlines
- Contribute to the review and documentation of subtitle editing standards, policy, guidelines and workflows as required to promote the consistency and efficiency of our products and services
- Meet the administrative requirements of the position
- Attend training as required

**About you**
- Writing and research ability and good attention to detail
- A thorough understanding of the uses and functions of language
- Wide general knowledge, including of current affairs, history and social history, science and technology
- Experience in utilising standard computer software (e.g. Microsoft Office), and experience using WinCaps or any subtitling software would be an advantage
- Ability to type at a reasonable speed
- Experience as an editor is advantageous
- A knowledge or appreciation of foreign languages is advantageous
- Related tertiary qualification(s) viewed favourably
