This is an exciting phase in our history and we are looking for an experienced Fabrication Manager, based in Melbourne that will see you leading a team of Electronics Technicians working within our Integrated Engineering Services division.

As the Fabrication Manager, your key responsibilities will include, but not limited to;
Lead a team of Electronics technicians (including apprentices) to deliver a wide array of unique electronics and electrical system projects to budget, schedule and quality

Collaborate with engineers and Project Managers (PMs) to clearly define project technical scope, schedule and budget

Lead technical fabrication oversight of the Electronics team, ensuring all staff are suitably qualified and accredited to perform the relevant work

Provide accurate fabrication estimates and quotes for PMs and clients

Manage staff resources and assign to projects to achieve financial utilisation targets

Ensure design and fabrication work is supplied with the relevant Certificates of Conformance/Compliance

Ensure Electronics technicians accurately manage configuration of all designs, including working to the correct Bill of Materials (BoM)

Ensure the Electronics workshop has the appropriate equipment, tools and materials at all times, including management of maintenance and calibration, to meet the needs to deliver projects

Participate, collaborate with peers, and contribute in meetings at all levels

Manage the goals, performance and ongoing development of the Electronics fabrication team according to the QinetiQ Performance and Development Review (PDR) process, providing regular feedback, mentoring and timely performance interventions as required

Collaborate with the functional Program Director (PD) as directed, including development and implementation of Technician competency and skills for team succession and progression planning

Establish trusted relationships with business clients to identify new business opportunities

Ensure all Electronics fabrication is implemented safely and according to both QinetiQ and the relevant regulatory Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S) requirements

Ensure all OH&S plans and procedures are effectively implemented in work area, including the induction and training of their staff, and addressing OH&S hazards in a timely fashion

Ensure all Electronics fabrication is implemented with environmental considerations in accordance with the Environmental Management System (ENVMS)

To be successful in the role of Fabrication Manager, you will need demonstrated experience, knowledge & skills in the following areas:
Relevant qualification in electronics with either a Technician or Engineering background

Relevant fabrication experience

Previous staff management experience

Can cope with change effectively and can shift gears comfortably

Dedicated to meeting the expectations and requirements of internal and external customers whilst establishing and maintaining effective relationships

Makes decisions in a timely manner, sometimes with incomplete information and under tight deadlines and pressure

Can be counted on to exceed goals and have a determination to succeed

Be able to create strong team environment and empower his/her team of professionals
