SGM Australia (Top-Dek) are recognised as leaders in the design, manufacture & supply of custom steel and aluminium trays for Ute's and Light trucks for both private and commercial use. Our primary business is the fabrication of flat trays to rigid vehicles, these are built on two parallel production lines in a well-resourced, Dandenong South facility by a small and experienced team of passionate and professional body builders. The trays we build are enhanced with value added accessories specified by our growing customer base.

About the Position:

Reporting to the Production Manager your role will be hands on, leading by example with a safety first attitude, you will be working with a small team of trades and trades assistants to deliver the highest standards the best quality products to our customers, on time and safely.

Job Description:

We are seeking a skilled Fabricator - Welder to join our team in Steel and Aluminium Tray fabrication. In this role, you will work with a team in the fabrication of steel and aluminium trays for light trucks and utes. Your will play a pivotal role in ensuring the quality and timely delivery of our products.

Responsibilities:

  • Utilise your skills to build steel & aluminium tray to a high standard trays light trucks and Ute's.
  • Carryout the fitment of trays and associated accessories where required.
  • Support other team members in steel and aluminium fabrication techniques, safety protocols, and quality standards.
  • Asist in the coordination of workflows and prioritise tasks to meet production schedules and customer demands.
  • Ensure safety compliance with all relevant regulations and standards in steel fabrication.
  • Collaborate with other departments to optimize production processes and resolve any issues that may arise.
  • Co-Ordinate with Production Manager to implement measures to improve efficiency and productivity in the steel and aluminium fabrication department.
  • Foster a positive work environment that promotes safety, teamwork and continuous improvement.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in steel and aluminium fabrication, with a focus on building trays for Light trucks and Utes.
  • Extensive knowledge of metalworking techniques, tools, and equipment.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications accurately.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Prior experience in a leadership or supervisory role is preferred.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Commitment to upholding safety standards and promoting a culture of safety in the workplace.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
