About the Team & the PositionThe Digital Division facilitates the delivery of AEMO's obligations through technology, improving outcomes for internal and external stakeholders.
Digital provides services to internal AEMO units, employees, contractors, subsidiaries such as AEMO Services, external government bodies, and market participants.The Energy Markets & Corporate Digital Systems (EM & CDS) team supports ongoing maintenance, operational support, and software development for AEMO's critical energy and gas market systems, as well as corporate and enterprise applications.The incumbent, as a member of the EM&CDS Leadership Team, is responsible for 24/7/365 operations within SLAs of the Digital applications and systems supporting key AEMO functions.Position ResponsibilitiesEnsure all IT systems supporting the Wholesale Electricity Market (WEM) and WA Gas Systems Information (GSI) operate within SLAs, maintaining high availability, security, and stability, including critical maintenance and projects.Develop and establish efficient, cost-effective, scalable ways of working, leveraging external partners as needed.Assist the GM Energy Market and Corporate Digital Solutions in driving change, promoting cross-departmental activities, and contributing to strategic planning forums.Provide strategic advice on AEMO's technology functions, operational matters, strategies, and efficiencies, collaborating with other managers to build a strong leadership team.Manage the applications environment, frameworks, tools, and processes for systems under the team's purview.Deliver new functionalities and ensure seamless 24/7 operational support for all managed systems, striving for continuous improvement and cost efficiency.Manage technology functions including:Critical applications and systems supporting WA division business functions, such as:Prudentials and SettlementsReal-Time Market SubmissionsRegistrationsReserve Capacity MechanismWA Gas Bulletin Board (GBB)Position RequirementsSkills & Experience :Significant leadership experience managing large, cross-functional operational teams or projects, with influence on senior management and stakeholders.Strong background in the energy sector or a highly regulated industry, with relevant IT and data management expertise.Good understanding of gas and electricity markets in Australia and internationally.Ability to negotiate and manage third-party vendors effectively.Proven experience in developing application solutions aligned with business goals and leading high-performing tech teams.Experience in transforming organizational ways of working towards product-based models, with commercial acumen and strong communication skills.Understanding of internal and vendor decision-making processes, dispute resolution, and market challenges.Must be an Australian citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain appropriate security clearance.Education / Professional Certifications :Tertiary qualifications in Computing, IT, Electronics Engineering, or equivalent.BenefitsFlexible work arrangements including WFH, part-time, job sharing, hybrid options, and additional leave.Opportunities for professional development, industry networking, job rotation, and study assistance.Up to 4 days of volunteering leave annually.Performance bonuses (subject to eligibility).
