Cross River Rail is a new 10.2km rail line including 5.9km of twin tunnels running under the Brisbane River and CBD. It includes the delivery of four new underground stations, two new above-ground stations, accessibility rebuilds for six stations, the construction of three new stations on the Gold Coast, and the introduction of a new world-class 'ETCS' signalling system.

About the Role
The Community Engagement Assistant engages directly with stakeholders and members of the public at the Cross River Rail Experience Centre, and associated community engagement events. In this role you are required to open and close the Cross River Rail Experience Centre, run shifts at the Centre and events, and escalate any issues as they arise. Weekend work is required, and some travel may be required for community engagement events.
This position reports to the Community Engagement Manager and supports the broader Communications and Engagement team.
Key responsibilities include
- Assist with activities within the Experience Centre to ensure the work plan meets brand, vision, and strategic and operational objectives.
- Deliver public programs including guided tours, holiday activities, education programs and events and functions.
- Oversee the operations and cleanliness of exhibition spaces, galleries, displays and public spaces.
- Undertake tasks including data entry using computerised consultation management software (Consultation Manager), basic troubleshooting.
- Set up and dismantle functions, workshops, children's and young people's activities and presentations.
- Set up and dismantle equipment at external events, such as marquees, foldable tables and banners
- Assist with answering telephone enquiries, taking bookings and other administration duties.
- Maintain compliance with Queensland Government public health directives including confirming QLD Covid Check In registrations and securing visitor cooperation with face mask and social distancing mandates.
- Expected hours of duty will include weekends, public holiday, school holidays and will include requests to represent the CRRDA at functions outside of the Experience Centre and regular business hours.

About You
- The ability to hold and maintain a Blue Card and First Aid qualifications for the duration of employment.
- Experience in visitor service in the retail and/or hospitality sector, delivering programs, tours, activities, or special events and functions.
- Understanding of the work environment and actively participate in team goal setting.
- Ability to work independently on routine tasks while remaining adaptable and flexible to accommodate the changing needs of the team.
- Well-developed communication skills to interact with varying age groups and demographics.
