About this Role

Engage with communities and stakeholders to maximise participation in the Census. As a key member of our team, you will play a pivotal role in connecting the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) to regional and remote areas.
  • You will work closely with operational teams to achieve outcomes through targeted engagement activities.
  • Your responsibilities include creating engagement plans, updating stakeholder management systems, undertaking promotional activities, and providing support and assistance to operational teams.

Your Key Objectives:

  • To plan, coordinate, and deliver Census engagement activities for your assigned region.
  • To maintain accurate records of your engagement activities via our ABS Stakeholder Management System.
  • To develop, update, and review engagement plans for your area of responsibility.
  • To promote participation in the Census through community visits, promotional activities, and presentations.
  • To build and maintain relationships with local communities and service providers.
  • To provide cultural considerations and intelligence to support Census operations.
  • To gather support for the Census from Local Government and community organisations.
  • To assist with Census operational activities as required.
  • To maintain a safe working environment, including when working from home or travelling in remote areas.
  • To complete administration tasks and other duties as directed.
  • To store Census promotional materials securely.
  • To provide regular updates to the Remote Operations Management team.

Key Qualities and Experience:

  • Demonstrated experience or knowledge in working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
  • Ability to connect and engage with a range of service providers and communicate effectively.
  • Sensitivity and effectiveness in presenting information to diverse groups and communities.
  • Capability to work independently, prioritise tasks, and make decisions autonomously.
  • Sound local area knowledge and map reading skills.
