The key duties of the position include:
The responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to:
Complying with all Bureau work, health and safety policies and procedures, and taking reasonable care for your own health and safety and that of employees, contractors and visitors who may be affected by your conduct.
Providing a high level of customer service to all internal and external parties to meet program rollout deliverables.
After initial training, identify, research comprehensive due diligence. Through this process you will identify landowners and cadastral locations, understand sometimes complex tenure arrangements, and highlight property risks that may impact the Bureau securing an agreement.
Exercise sound judgement when dealing with complex sites affected by varying state legislations and adherence to all legislative requirements, including Native Title and Cultural Heritage requirements.
Provide support to senior team members.
Prepare agreements and manage the process to execution.
Negotiate agreements with landowners in a timely manner, while ensuring a value for money outcome for the Bureau.
Exercise initiative and judgement in the interpretation of policy and application of practices and procedures.
Operating under the responsibilities and limits of authority of the Commonwealth Property Management Framework and the Land Acquisitions Act 1989 and Public Governance, Performance and Accountability Act 2013 (PGPA)
Liaise with Business Unit representatives ensuring that leasing outcomes are consistent with the respective operational requirements of the Business Unit.
Provide supervision and guidance to colleagues, ensuring a work environment that supports teamwork, cooperation, performance excellence and personal success.
Escalate complex matters, with clear communication to enable informed decision making.
Proactively identify and implement improvements in process and procedure.
Be aware of, and apply as necessary, the principles and practices of the various elements of the Bureau's Social Justice policies.
Eligibility
A degree or diploma of an Australian educational institution, or a comparable overseas qualification, which is appropriate to the duties; OR other comparable qualifications, which are appropriate to the duties.
The successful applicant will possess the following attributes:
Commonwealth leasing experience preferred but not a must
Commercial Real Estate experience
Highly skilled in Microsoft suite of applications
Experience and understanding of Native Title and Cultural Heritage
Experience and knowledge of state geospatial data platforms
Highly organised with excellent time management skills
Excellent communication skills – both verbal and written
Excellent attention to detail
Self-motivated and disciplined
Ability to work autonomously or as part of a cohesive team.
Ability to work with high volume process tasks in a constantly changing environment.
A good understanding of the relevant laws relating to leasing (Commonwealth, State and Council).
A good understanding of, and ability to accurately interpret the Commonwealth Property Management Framework, Lands Acquisitions Act 1989 (Cth) (LAA) and Public Governance, and the Performance and Accountability Act 2013 (Cth) (PGPA)
Well-developed interpersonal skills and capacity to develop and maintain relationships with diverse and sometimes complex stakeholders to achieve outcomes.
