Description:We are currently seeking a Community Engagement Manager to provide accessible culturally appropriate public health programs and community activities reflective of community needs.
With the aim to improve the health and wellbeing and engagement of the local community by promoting and encouraging active participation in culturally specific activities.
Key Selection Criteria:
Demonstrated knowledge and commitment to the philosophy of Aboriginal Community Control and Aboriginal view of holistic health.
Demonstrated ability to facilitate workshops.
Demonstrated ability to work with Aboriginal organisations, communities, and individuals in culturally appropriate ways
Demonstrated understanding of the diverse health and social needs of Aboriginal people
Well-developed interpersonal skills, including a friendly and professional approach and an ability to deal with a broad range of people at all levels.
Demonstrated organisational and time management skills, including an ability to prioritise, manage multiple tasks, work to deadlines, and adapt to changing priorities
Demonstrated capacity to manage sensitive information, maintain confidentiality and always remain impartial.
Self-motivated and demonstrated ability of working autonomously with minimal supervision, and as an effective team member, promoting cooperation and commitment to achieve goals.
Duties include (please see position description for full details):
Engage with the community to identify and plan public health programs, projects, and activities in conjunction with the community engagement officer.
Develop and deliver education sessions and public health awareness campaign
Investigate other opportunities for community engagement within the scope of CHADAC.
Coordinate and facilitate community health initiatives such as the community kitchen, Women's group, Elders gatherings and support school holiday activities ensuring each program has an emphasis on health education and promotion.
Provide cultural support and mentorship to visiting specialist and allied health professionals.
Liaise with the Cummeragunja LALC on health, housing and environmental issues.
Provide input into the CHADAC newsletter.
Provide advocacy for individuals, families and the community around public health issues and concerns.
Facilitate referrals (internal and external) as required.
Maintain records and statistics on projects, program activities, and educations sessions in Communicare and other written reports.
Participate in the ongoing development and implementation of policies which are sensitive to the identified health and wellbeing needs and concerns of Aboriginal people/communities and which reflect the principles of social justice and equity, by consultation, participation, and advocacy in appropriate forums.
Cooperate with management initiatives and participate in achieving the targets outlined by CHADAC
Work in accordance with the EEO, OH&S, Code of Conduct and safe working practices, policies, and procedures of CHADAC.
Participate in staff, planning and accreditation meetings.
Accept personal responsibility and be accountable for professional practice.
Participates in the performance appraisal and supervision process.
Maintain professional skills and knowledge via appropriate staff development activities.
Demonstrates excellent communication skills in recording and reporting information to the multidisciplinary team.
Work as part of a team and actively participates in staff meetings.
Participate in quality improvement and accreditation activities.
Provide written reports to the CEO as required.
