We are seeking a passionateFirst Nations Social Justice Advocateto help lead transformative campaigns that centre First Nations voices, challenge entrenched disadvantage and drive systemic change.
Our Campaigns
We walk alongside communities, stand with First Nations people, and raise our voices on the big issues of our time:
First Nations justice– truth, treaty, voice and self-determination
Fair Treatment– calling for drug laws that heal, not punish
Climate change– mobilising communities and amplifying justice for those most impacted
Reducing entry into out-of-home care– shifting power to communities and creating culturally safe, relationally led systems
This role is about bringingyour voice, culture and passioninto these campaigns.
About the Role
As ourFirst Nations Social Justice Advocate, you will help drive Uniting's advocacy agenda.
You'll shape and implement powerful campaigns as part of Uniting's Advocacy Team, while being embedded in the First Nations Strategy and Outcomes Team for cultural guidance and alignment with theFirst Nations People and Place Strategy.
Your work will include:
Driving campaigns, including those with a First Nations focus
Growing networks of supporters and allies
Mobilising community into action
Using social media, events and storytelling to build momentum
Training and supporting others to take action
Ensuring First Nations voices and priorities are always front and centre
This is a role for someone who is passionate about justice and committed to walking alongside communities to create lasting systemic change.
About You
This is anIdentified Rolefor Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
You are a proud Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person who brings:
Experience working with mob and community
Strong cultural knowledge and connection
A passion for creating change through campaigns, community organising or advocacy
Strong communication skills — from yarning with community to writing posts and sharing stories
Confidence to engage with a wide range of people — from community to church to politicians
A willingness to learn, grow and work as part of a collaborative team
