Job summary
The AWS Startup BD team works directly with many of the top startups in the world. We spend our days interfacing with founders of early-stage high potential startups, top accelerator and incubator leadership teams, angel and VC investors, and navigating cross-AWS and Amazon to unlock opportunities for startups.

The team is comprised of a high-caliber group of founders/operators, venture investors and ecosystem advocates, many of who have extensive global background and local knowledge. Our mission is to drive high-impact initiatives that accelerates success for startups and builds the startup ecosystem in Australia and New Zealand for the decade ahead.

We're inviting you to join us in our Startup Ecosystem team to work with early stage founders and the organisations that support them. This is a fun and fast-paced role where you will often be the first point of interaction for partners and the startups in their communities, and we rely on you to build meaningful relationships that deliver value to startups while driving preference for and adoption of AWS. This typically ranges from co-developing or supporting conferences, designing and delivering talks/workshop-style content at accelerators/ incubators/ industry organisations, and running office hours for early stage founders.

Key job responsibilities
- Be curious: This role needs someone who loves to learn (across topics ranging from starting startups to new trends and developments in emerging verticals like Web3, climate, health, gaming), and then loves to share what they've learned with founders and partners alike. You will need to listen to startups, identify their challenges, needs and gaps - and then build impactful and repeatable content (e.g workshops, presentations, case studies) that helps hundreds of founders solve the same challenges.
- Be present and helpful: As a key evangelist for AWS Startups, you will attend, contribute to, and represent AWS at relevant startup/technology events across Australia. You will help startups demystify Amazon, understand the value of building on AWS ,and navigate the range of people, products, programs and resources they can access to accelerate their success.
- Be a builder: Play an active role in building a vibrant and ambitious startup ecosystem. Work with partners to develop and execute high impact initiatives and/or programs in collaboration with internal stakeholders (e.g. PR, sales, partners, marketing, technical, support, training, etc). You will need to think at scale to build approaches for handling a volume of engagements at a fast pace.
- Network and connections with key stakeholders in the startup space in Australia
- Understanding of the lifecycle and needs of startups more broadly, including current challenges and common patterns of success
- Ability to work effectively and build trust in a cross-functional/ matrixed team environment
- Self-reliant, adaptable, decisive, and professional
- Previous cloud technology knowledge/experience.
