**About the Role**
The primary purpose of this role is to mitigate Money Laundering and Terrorism Financing (ML/TF) risk by overseeing and providing a professional AML/CTF assessment and investigation service for the BOQ Group and includes enhanced customer due diligence (ECDD). The AML Operations Reporting Team complete investigations raised as a result of the Group's AML/CTF Transaction Monitoring Program and subsequent reporting of Suspicious Matter Reports (SMRs) to AUSTRAC; in compliance with AML/CTF regulatory obligations, as well as BOQ Group policies including the Financial Crime Strategy of the Group.

As the Team Leader Reporting for AML Operations, you will be accountable for overseeing the day to day AML/CTF operational obligations of Suspicious Matter Reports (SMRs) which also includes authorizing submission, overseeing investigations, contributing and supporting complex matters or escalated investigations, developing the knowledge of your team through training and coaching. You will also be accountable for ensuring compliance with AML/CTF regulatory obligations, review and updates to internal policies/procedures as well as supporting improvement initiatives across AML Operations or Financial Crime Operations within the BOQ Group, where there may be links to operational changes following regulatory change.

This role will work closely with the Manager AML Operations Manager to ensure that the operation of the Reporting team is functioning at full potential and BOQs AML/CTF operational obligations are met. As a Team Leader in AML Operations, you will be spirited in driving a culture of empowerment and inclusivity, being confident to make risk-based decisions based on BOQ policies and holding the team accountable to performance expectations.

**Key Accountabilities / Main focus**
- Overseeing the day to day AML/CTF operational obligations of Suspicious Matter Reports (SMRs) which also includes authorizing submissions and conducting 4-eye checks in line with BOQ Groups policies and procedures.
- People leadership fundamentals, including monthly 1:1 performance reviews, constructive and respectful ongoing feedback.
- Providing coaching and training to AML Investigation Analysts for transaction monitoring investigations including enhanced customer due diligence (ECDD), red flags & indicators of ML/TF typologies.
- Provide advice & assessment of matters related to Sanctions, such as Screening of customers or payments for Sanctions, PEPS, RCAs, SIPs, Adverse Media, and Third-Party Risk.
- Make continuous improvements/recommendations to processes, procedures to refine operational processes, including completing periodic reviews.
- Support the review of AML/CTF regulatory changes that impact AML operations & implement any operational changes as required.
- Coordinating workflow on a daily basis, to ensure AML workforce planning requirements, team objectives are achieved and in accordance with SLAs & KPIs.
- Triage manual ML/TF referrals and liaise with the relevant staff across the BOQ Group where required to complete inquiries.
- Work in collaboration with data and analytics colleagues within the Financial Crime Operations team to contribute or identify rule refinement, enhancement of controls opportunities related to detection scenarios or emerging risks.
- Communicate insights, trends or findings on investigation cases that are escalated to Operational stakeholders, Compliance and Risk partners.
- Keep abreast of emerging AML/CTF trends and issues, including AUSTRAC typologies and relevant media.
- Work with and liaise with Operation Managers, Team Leaders, Senior Managers, or delegates across the BOQ Group where required to support AML Operations in aspects of projects, initiatives, and small changes.

**About you**

It is a requirement that you have 3 to 5 years in a Financial Crimes Operations team in a transaction monitoring role / sanctions or customer screening role / investigation's role with experience of AML/CTF operational obligations.

Demonstrated knowledge of, and experience with:

- Financial crime processes and procedures, including ECDD.
- Customer or Payment Screening requirements.
- ML/TF typologies, indicators, and red flags.
- AML/CTF Rules, Financial Crime Risk including Money Laundering and Terrorism Financing Risk.
- Sanctions Screening including risk identification, assessment, management, and timely mitigation.
- TM, TTR and IFTI timeframes and compliance requirements.
- Banking codes of practice and/ or other relevant legislation including Privacy Act and Criminal Code
- Providing advice (orally and written) to senior level management on highly technical matters.
- Knowledge and experience working with relevant regulatory bodies and organisations.
