Ahrens Rural - a leading division of the Ahrens family of brands - expertly build silos which are made in our local facilities and are delivered either fully assembled or ready for site construction. Our extensive range of products include transportable silos, field bins, feeders, augers and conveyors, material handling systems, grain storage and handling complexes and bulker systems.

**About the Role**

Due to our continued growth, a position has become available for Leading Hand at our Goombungee location. The Leading Hand will coordinate the team in welding, boiler making and maintenance to ensure a safe work environment, quality control and production output.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Direct and coordinate production activities in respective work area.
- Assist in maintaining the production schedule, ensuring resource optimisation.
- Review operations and confer with production personnel to resolve production or processing problems.
- Train and supervise the performance of production personnel.
- Monitor production standards and ensure finished products are of prescribed quality.
- Read drawings, work orders and production schedules to determine product or job instructions and specifications.
- Operate manual or semi-automatic welding equipment to fuse metal using gas shielded metal arc.
- Examine work for defects, and measure with straightedges or templates to ensure conformance with specifications.
- Set up and operate hand and power tools common to the welding trade such as shielded metal arc and gas metal arc welding equipment, grinders and carbon rod gauging.
- Detect faulty operation of equipment and/or defective materials or products and notify supervisors.

**Skills and Experience**
- Trade qualifications in welding / boiler making (or equivalent experience).
- Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs and other techniques for maximizing the effective production performance.
- Knowledge of production methods, and coordination of people, materials and resources.
- Ability to handle pressure and multi-task.
- "Can do", hands-on approach to work and a focus on achieving results.
- Ability to build a team that works together to achieve results.
- High Risk Forklift License
- Vehicle Licence
- Construction Card (White Card)
- Experience with hydraulics and pneumatics ( Desirable)
- Working at Heights (Desirable)
- Confined Space (Desirable)
- High Risk WP (Boom Type EWP) ( Desirable)
- Scissor Lift (Yellow Card) ( Desirable)
- High Risk Dogging/Rigging ( Desirable)
